The coming years promise to bring new energy projects to Michigan as utilities work to achieve a state-mandated 50 percent renewable energy portfolio by 2030. In furtherance of this goal, Michigan enacted Public Act 233 of 2023, a new siting process that went into effect in late 2024, pursuant to which renewable energy developers can seek approval for certain large-scale wind, solar, and storage projects.
