Invitation to Apply for Grant from State Bar of Michigan Taxation Section

The Taxation Section of the State Bar of Michigan is pleased to announce that it will make available funds of up to $1,000 for grants to qualifying organizations that provide taxpayer assistance to low-income individuals.

Organizations seeking a grant should make a proposal to the Taxation Section no later than April 30, 2026. Please see attached a Grant Application Form; the application is formatted as a fillable PDF. All grant proposals should include the following information:

  • The name, address, and phone number of the applying organization (including the name of a contact person).
  • The federal employer identification number of the applying organization.
  • A copy of the IRS letter qualifying the applying organization as tax-exempt.
  • The amount of funds sought and a detailed description of the proposed project or program, including goals and intended use of the grant funds.
  • A description of other potential sources of funds for the proposed project or program.
  • Disclosure of any relationship between the applying organization and any current or former member of the Taxation Section Council.
