What We Do

The Amicus Committee is responsible for recommending positions on and writing Amicus Curiae briefs in selected family law-related cases in the Michigan Courts, usually at the Supreme Court level.

How You Can Get Involved

The first step is to be a Family Law Section Member (you are not required to be a council member), then contact either of the co-chairs above to inform them of your intention to attend or participate. We believe that it is best to have input and ideas from as many practitioners as possible.

When & How We Meet

We typically meet the third Tuesday of every month at 3:00 pm, although those times and days may vary.  We also meet, as needed, to discuss more imminent issues or as the need arises.  The meetings are presently being held by Zoom, the link of which is sent out to participating members the week of the meeting.
