During this event, established criminal defense attorneys will speak about the mechanics of and demonstrate during sections on voir dire, opening statements, cross-examination, direct examination, and closing arguments.
All attendees will also be expected to practice these skills in small workshop groups and be given feedback from experienced instructors. This gives attendees an opportunity to work on their skills, try new tactics learned during the presentations, and receive feedback in a judgment-free and consequence-free environment. The case that all of the presentations will be based on will be provided to attendees ahead of time, but attendees are only expected to review the case information prior to the event.
Attendees should not prepare any of the practical portions prior to attending the workshop. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for attendees as the event will occur between 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Space is limited so RSVP today! Cost is $50.
The event has been approved by the MIDC for up to 7 hours of CLE, but attendees need to check with the funding units for the counties in which they perform court-appointed work to make sure that the event will be eligible for reimbursement. Unless otherwise arranged for between the funding units and the event coordinators, payments will need to be made by the attendee who will need to seek reimbursement from their individual funding units.
If you are interested, please RSVP to Chris Wickman at cwickman@nicholslaw.net. Payment should be mailed prior to the date of the event to confirm your attendance. On a case-by-case basis, payments in-person may be accepted at the discretion of the event coordinators.
Checks must be payable to the State Bar of Michigan and mailed to the Nichols Law Firm, 3452 E. Lake Lansing Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823.
We hope to see you there for this excellent training!
