Judge Chiechi will provide attendees with a brief introductory speech and then field questions from attendees regarding practicing in United States Tax Court.
Judge Chiechi has had a long and distinguished career as a tax attorney beginning as attorney-adviser to Judge Leo H. Irwin, United States Tax Court, from 1969–1971. Prior to her appointment to the bench by President George H.W. Bush on October 1, 1992, Judge Chiechi practiced law for 21 years with Sutherland Asbill & Brennan. Judge Chiechi's 15-year term expired on September 30, 2007. At that time, Judge Chiechi took senior status. Judge Chiechi earned her B.S., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University in 1965. She later earned her law degree in 1969, and LL.M. in 1971, also from Georgetown University.
