    The Solo and Small Firm Section of the State Bar of Michigan strives to enhance the quality of practice for the solo and small firm attorney as well as the lawyer who has interests beyond the bounds of a single professional specialty.

Outstanding Achievement Award Winner—Professor Gary P. Bauer


    The Solo and Small Firm Section is proud to have Professor Gary P. Bauer as its 2016 Outstanding Achievement Award Winner. Please join us in honoring Professor Gary P. Bauer as our Outstanding Achievement Award Winner! The Outstanding Achievement Award is given annually to an attorney or attorneys, who are current members of the Solo & Small Firm Section and who have exhibited the highest standards of practice and commitment for the benefit of our section or others. Award Winner's Reception will be on February 2, 2017.

Section Survey


    The council of the Solo and Small Firm Section of the State Bar of Michigan is conducting a survey of our members to gather information for us to use in planning section programs and activities for the next several years.   • Drone Law

    The future is changing. At no other point in time has technology changed people's lives so quickly and extensively as the present. There are millions of private drones in the United States. That number is only going to increase. The Solo and Small Firm Section of the State Bar of Michigan invites you to attend the seminar on June 9, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at University of Detroit Mercy Law School and witness a live demonstration. Food will be provided.

    April 27 "Arbitration and Mediation Case Law Update" presentation.

    The ADR Section and the Solo and Small Firm Section are sponsoring an
    "Arbitration and Mediation Case Law Update" presentation. The presentation
    will review recent significant Michigan cases concerning arbitration and
    mediation, including legal principles and practice takeaways, and practice
    pointers from cases which have declined to enforce mediated settlement
    agreements.

    Date and time: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
