20th Annual National Trial Advocacy Competition: October 11–13, 2019

This fall the Young Lawyers Section will host the 20th Annual National Trial Advocacy Competition (NTAC). We are excited and look forward to another amazing year! This competition is designed for teams of four participants, made up of two advocates and two witnesses. Participants will have an opportunity to perfect their courtroom advocacy skills before judges and practitioners.

The competition will be held October 11-13, at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, in Detroit. This year the preliminary rounds will be held on November 11 and 12, and the semi-final and final round will be held on November 13.

Team Entry Application

Applications will be accepted until September 11, 2019Applications must be e-mailed to ntacsbmyls@gmail.com and bear the subject line “2019 NTAC Application.” Applications will NOT be available through the State Bar of Michigan this year. Please include in your application the following information:

  • Law school name, address, and phone number
  • Faculty/primary contact for this competition and phone number
  • Primary e-mail address for communication (acceptance will be e-mailed to this address only!)
  • Brief description of previous participation in regional and national competitions

Acceptance

  • Selected teams will be notified by e-mail on September 12, 2019.
  • Teams must accept invitations by September 16, 2019.
  • The registration fee of $600 for selected teams that accept are due by September 19, 2019. Further details concerning payment will follow when teams are notified of their acceptance.
