In response to the current surge in the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus, the 2022 Mid-Winter and Annual Meeting of the Labor & Employment Law Section, previously scheduled as an in-person event in Detroit, will now be held virtually. While we had sincerely hoped to gather in person for this event, the LELS Council reached this difficult decision in order to safeguard the health of Section members while at the same time providing the legal updates upon which they have come to rely at this time of year. We look forward to seeing many of you virtually on Friday, January 21, 2022!
As in years past, this year’s Mid-Winter Meeting will provide timely and informative updates including FLSA, FMLA, EEO, ADA, and ever-changing regulations on COVID protocol by our Section members, as well as presentations by NLRB Region 7 Director Elizabeth Kerwin, MERC Chair Tinamarie Pappas, and MERC Director Sidney McBride.
Following the Annual Meeting, there will be a special presentation of the Distinguished Service Award to this year’s recipient Nancy Schiffer. If the conditions permit, the Section plans to host an in-person presentation of the Distinguished Service Award to Ms. Schiffer and the 2021 recipient Daniel Swanson later in the year.
