Description: Please join the Animal Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and our presenters Hilary Anne Hager and Lindsay Hamrick with The Humane Society of the United States. This training will focus on the tools and strategies for building emotional resilience and working toward a strong work-life balance. Our trainers will reflect on productive strategies implemented by individuals and organizations during crisis and how those can help lead us to a more supportive and sustainable culture.

Topics to be covered include:

  • The negative cost of caring is characterized by emotional and physical exhaustion leading to a diminished ability to empathize or feel compassion for others; we’ll help attendees identify compassion fatigue
  • Tools to recognize compassion fatigue and ways to stay resilient
  • Skills to maintain mental health and focus on self-care
  • Ways to face the day-to-day challenges and the secondary stress created by animal welfare and protection work
