ADR Section: Developments in Mediator Ethics Webinar

This important webinar is for mediators and advocates who want to learn about recent developments in specific ethics topics relating to the Mediator Standards of Conduct, conflicts of interest and disclosures, lessons learned from recent cases and an ABA Opinion, and what the future holds for possible changes to mediator court rules and standards. We are fortunate to have three outstanding experts offering their thoughts: Anne Bachle Fifer, Dale Ann Iverson, and Donald Campbell.

Michael S. Leib, Moderator

Leib is a mediator with Leib ADR LLC in Bloomfield Hills, and devotes his time to the mediation of business disputes including bankruptcy disputes and participation on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Council of the State Bar of Michigan, as well as on the Debtor Creditor Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He has been an active participant in trial skills education, having written several articles and been a faculty member of ICLE Trial Skills workshops, Federal Bar Association presentations, and ABI workshops. Mr. Leib retired as a business trial lawyer in 2014 after many years as a shareholder at Maddin, Hauser, Roth & Heller, P.C. His practice was divided between litigation in the bankruptcy court and business litigation in the state and federal courts. Mr. Leib has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America and SuperLawyers, and is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He received his B.A. from Kalamazoo College, his M.M. from the University of Montana, and his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. 

Donald D. Campbell
Campbell_w.jpgDonald D. Campbell is a shareholder at Collins Einhorn near Detroit, Michigan. Don’s practice focuses on attorney grievance defense, judicial discipline matters, and legal malpractice defense. He is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he has taught professional responsibility and seminars in business law and ethics. Prior to joining Collins Einhorn, Don served as associate counsel with the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission. He also previously served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Oakland County, Michigan. He was president of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers from 2016-2017 (see APRL.net). Anne Bachle Fifer

Fifer-Anne_w.jpgAnne Bachle Fifer of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a mediator, facilitator, arbitrator, and mediation trainer. Her mediation experience includes business contracts, workplace disputes, and estates, as well as church-based conflicts integrating Christian principles into the mediation process. As Michigan’s most experienced general civil mediation trainer, she frequently conducts both basic and advanced mediation trainings. She is a mediator, trainer, and board member with Peacemaker Ministries, and is a mediator, trainer, and former board member with the Dispute Resolution Center of West Michigan. She regularly serves on state court and State Bar committees related to ADR in Michigan. She served two terms on the ADR Section Council, edited its newsletter for several years, and received its 2011 Distinguished Service Award for contributions to the ADR profession. She is listed annually in Best Lawyers in America© in the field of mediation.


Dale Ann Iverson

Iverson-D_w.jpgDale Ann Iverson is founder and principal of JustMediation PLC. Building on 19 years as a trial lawyer, she mediates a wide range of matters nationally and statewide. She is an approved mediator in Michigan circuit and probate courts and the U.S. District Court for the Western District. Since 2012 she has been named to Best Lawyers in America® in mediation and arbitration, and a Super Lawyer® in mediation since 2015. She served on the Michigan Supreme Court 1998 Dispute Resolution Task Force, and co-facilitated the statewide Task Force on Diversity in ADR, coauthoring its report. She is a past president of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and past chair of the ADR Section of the State Bar. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the ADR Section for significant contributions to the field of ADR, and the George N. Bashara, Jr. Award in recognition of exemplary service to the section and its members; the Trailblazer Award from the Dispute Resolution Center of West Michigan for leadership in community conflict resolution; and the Michael S. Barnes Award from Legal Services of West Michigan in recognition of exemplary contributions to the provision of free legal services to the poor and elderly.
