Our Speakers:
Richard S. Victor, is a nationally known and awarded author and family law attorney. Richard is the national founder and Executive Director of the national nonprofit Grandparents Rights Organization, since 1982. He also founded the national nonprofit Victor Smile Foundation, providing benefits to children of divorce. He, along with Judge Edward Sosnick of the Oakland County Family Court, created the SMILE (Start Making It Livable for Everyone) program (an educational program for divorcing parents) for both the state of Michigan and around the United States, as well as for the country of Australia.

Richard, and the work he has done, have been featured on numerous state and national television and radio programs throughout the country, including: Oprah Winfrey Show; NBC's Today Show and Trial Watch; ABC's Good Morning America and Special Reports with Joan Lunden; CBS's Early Show, Night Watch, and Nightly News with Dan Rather; PBS's Late Night America; CNN's Crossfire and Burden of Proof.

David Findling is an attorney and managing partner at The Findling Law Firm, PLC. He has more than 26 years of experience addressing insolvency and debtor-creditor issues. He is knowledgeable regarding property management, real estate, construction, business management, and conflict resolution. Mr. Findling has served as a receiver, Chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy trustee, assignee in Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors, Partition commissioner, chief restructuring officer, mediator, arbitrator, and expert witness.

Michigan Lawyers Weekly, previously named Mr. Findling Lawyer of the Year for his work as receiver. He is the author of The Enforcer, State Bar of Michigan, Family Law Journal, a monthly column on enforcement issues. In 2012, he initiated the creation of the receivership committee. As a member of the receivership committee, he served as co-drafter of MCR 2.621 and 2.622.  MCR 2.622 was adopted by the Michigan Supreme Court on March 28, 2014 and became effective May 1, 2014.

Danon D. Goodrum-Garland is the Director of Professional Standards for the State Bar of Michigan and is responsible for the supervision and management of departments within the Division, including Character & Fitness, Client Protection Fund, Ethics, Lawyer Referral Service, and Unauthorized Practice of Law. Before her employment with the State Bar, Ms. Goodrum-Garland engaged in a litigation practice with a large Detroit-based law firm. She is the immediate past chair of the State Bar’s Committee on Membership Services and is a previous member of the District H Character and Fitness Committee. She was Deputy Chief of Staff for the National Bar Association (August 2005-06) and is a former President of the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association.
