On February 9, 2018, the Labor and Employment Law Section will hold its annual Mid-Winter meeting at the Southfield Westin. The Mid-Winter meeting offers Section members timely and informative education programs, the opportunity to catch up with colleagues from around the state, and an opportunity to honor those who have served the Section through distinguished service.
The meeting will include legal updates as to all of the following topics: The Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and EEO law, the Michigan Employment Relations Commission, and the National Labor Relations Board. Additionally, the meeting will include a moderated panel presentation entitled The #MeToo Movement: the Impact on the Legal Profession featuring plaintiff and defense employment lawyers, a human resource expert, and an academic expert. Following the panel discussion, attendees will enjoy a reception with dinner and cocktails.
During dinner, the Distinguished Service Award will be conferred upon two individuals who have demonstrated major contributions to the practice area, the highest ethical principles, advancement of the development of labor and employment law, and a recognized commitment to excellence in the profession.
To make attendance for Grand Rapids and Lansing attendees more convenient, the Section has arranged for transportation to and from the event.
