The DOL representatives will discuss the Department's Enforcement program and what to expect if your health plan is selected for an investigation. They will discuss some of the frequent violations identified and how these violations are corrected.

Speakers:
Tom Bloom, U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration, has over 20 years of experience with the DOL. He has moved through the ranks of Investigator, Senior Investigator, and Supervisory Investigator to his current position of Associate Regional Director which he has held since 2011. He also served as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Program Operations in 2013. He has a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Kentucky.

Carletta C. Murnane, U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration is the Senior Advisor for Health Investigations for the Cincinnati Regional Office. As the Senior Advisor for Health Investigations, Ms. Murnane oversees the Cincinnati Regional Office's health investigative activities. Prior to assuming this position in November 2014, Ms. Murnane was the Supervisory Benefits Advisor for five years and she served as an Auditor/Investigator for eight years. Ms. Murnane holds a BBA in Accounting from Morehead State University and an MBA from the University of Kentucky.

Amy M. Christen practices in all areas of employee benefits law. Her experiences involve compliance and design of qualified retirement plans (including governmental and private sector defined benefit plans and profit sharing and 401(k) plans), sections 457 or 403(b) plans, SEP or other nonqualified plans, and health and other welfare plans (including health care reform (PPACA), cafeteria plans, severance plans, COBRA and HIPAA issues); advising clients on employee benefit concerns in mergers and acquisitions; and ERISA litigation.

Before joining Dykema, Ms. Christen practiced employee benefits law for a boutique benefits firm and prior to that a major Detroit-based law firm. She also clerked for the Ohio Court of Appeals.
