The purposes of the Section shall be to review those laws and regulations dealing with the conservation and development of the natural resources of this State and its environment and to promote the fair and just administration of those laws and regulations which implement the mandate of Article IV, Section 52, of the 1963 Constitution of Michigan. The Section shall endeavor to accomplish these purposes by examining proposed legislation and regulations concerning natural resources and environmental law; promoting the education of members of the Bar and the general public in those areas pertaining to natural resources and environmental law; and by sponsoring institutes and conferences and the publication of legal writing devoted to those issues.
The Environmental Law Section is now accepting nominations for election to the Section Council. To qualify, the individual must be a member of the Environmental Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and have served for no less than two years as an active member of a Section committee. Council members shall also be able to serve a three (3) year term.

Clean Power Plan Rollback
Janet McCabe, former acting assistant administrator for the Office of Air and Radiation, will provide an analysis and overview of the Trump Administration’s rollback of the Clean Power Plan. Janet played a lead role in framing, shaping, and implementing the Clean Power Plan under the Obama Administration and provides a unique perspective on proposed changes. Janet will be joined by representatives from Michigan utilities and the Michigan Energy Office to help us understand how Michigan will be impacted.
