Leib-Mike_w.jpgOur Moderator: Michael S. Leib is a mediator with Leib ADR LLC in West Bloomfield, Michigan, and devotes his time to the mediation of business disputes including bankruptcy disputes and participation on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Council of the State Bar of Michigan, as well as on the Debtor Creditor Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He has been an active participant in trial skills education, having written several articles and been a faculty member of ICLE Trial Skills workshops, Federal Bar Association presentations, and ABI workshops. Mr. Leib retired as a business trial lawyer in 2014 after many years as a shareholder at Maddin, Hauser, Roth & Heller, PC. His practice was divided between litigation in the bankruptcy court and business litigation in the state and federal courts. Mr. Leib has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America and SuperLawyers, and is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He received his BA from Kalamazoo College and his MM from the University of Montana, and his JD from Wayne State University Law School.

McCargo_w.jpgSam McCargo is a senior attorney and member of the litigation group of Lewis & Munday, PC. Prior to his affiliation with Lewis & Munday, PC, he was employed by The Wellness Plan for eight years where he served as vice president of business development & marketing; vice president of plan administration; and associate general counsel. McCargo provided legal counsel, advice and representation in areas of labor & employment, provider contracting, government relations, and commercial business. McCargo was also a senior shareholder at Kirk McCargo, PC in Detroit for over 12 years, and was responsible for all internal firm trial skills training. He has focused on defense litigation in labor & employment, personal injury, product liability, governmental immunity, and premises liability. McCargo has served the State Bar of Michigan in various capacities, including a four-year term as commissioner. He has also served as a state hearing officer in its Public Health and Civil Service departments. An author and lecturer, McCargo regularly conducts seminars on trial practice, professional ethics, labor and employment, and sexual harassment in the public and private sectors.

Weisman_w.jpgMartin Weisman has served as a neutral and party appointed arbitrator, mediator, and/or case evaluator in numerous commercial matters where claims were in the millions of dollars. These have included claims for breaches of many different types of contracts, shareholders and/or partnership break-ups and/or oppression matters, fraudulent dealings, attorney and accounting malpractice, security disputes, purchase and sale disputes, commissions, real estate, construction, employment, automobile dealership and supplier issues, and merger and acquisition issues. These have been court and/or party appointed positions as well as AAA and/or PREMi matters. He has been named a Michigan Top Lawyer by dBusiness magazine each year since 2009, a Michigan Super Lawyer by Michigan Super Lawyers each year since 2007, a Martindale-Hubbe;; Preeminent and AV rated attorney, and served as the chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar of Michigan for 2014-2015 after serving on its council for seven years. Within the last year alone, Martin Weisman served as the sole arbitrator in a $108,000,000 employment case and as member of the three-person arbitration panel for a $58,000,000 Medicare fraud matter. Martin Weisman has been designated as a mediator and as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association’s complex commercial panels. Martin Weisman has also served extensively as an ADR trainer, lecturer and author.

Widgeon_w.jpgBetty R. Widgeon is a retired Michigan district court judge. She is the founder and president of Widgeon Dispute Resolution, PLC, which specializes in arbitration, mediation, fact-finding, and consulting, focusing specifically on labor, employment, and consumer cases. Judge Widgeon occasionally substitutes as a visiting judge in Michigan district and circuit courts. She also serves as a member of the Special Master Hearing Officers’ Roster for the Michigan Supreme Court. She has over 25 years of experience resolving civil and criminal disputes. Her practice is now national in scope and covers a wide variety of issues and industries. Judge Widgeon is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators and the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
